Brought up during the era of stonewashed jeans and Jeri curls in the heart of Newark, New Jersey, Cee Brooks had a typical urban childhood. The youngest of six children, she considered herself to be the odd one of the bunch; a girlie exterior with a rough interior. From roof hopping to mayonnaise sandwiches, she loved her neighborhood; even when summers drew stolen cars flying down the block, and stick-up kids came out at night.
