Learn About Clara Barton, the Angel of the Battlefield
A shy child who had difficulty making friends, during the Civil War she risked her life going to the battlefield and nursing wounded soldiers to health. For her heroinism, she earned the nickname the Angel of the Battlefield. After the Civil War, Clara visited Geneva, Switzerland and learned about the Red Cross. She eventually is the founder of the American Red Cross and serves the organization for 23 years.
